The authorities, who report an

"increase in the terrorist threat against Israelis abroad"

, named as countries or regions

"close"

geographically to Iran, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iraqi Kurdistan, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

The two countries normalized diplomatic relations with the Hebrew state in September and direct airlines were inaugurated last week between Dubai and Tel Aviv.

For his part, the head of Israeli diplomacy, Gabi Ashkenazi, was due to travel to Bahrain this weekend for a regional conference, but diplomatic sources told AFP, just after Tehran's new threats against Israel, that this trip had been canceled, without further details.

A delegation from Bahrain, however, went the other way by completing a three-day visit to Jerusalem and Israel on Thursday, during which a series of agreements were signed.

One of these agreements concerns the maintenance by an Israeli company of the planes of the Bahraini carrier Gulf Air which in the future must provide direct links between the two countries.

Eminence grise of the Iranian nuclear sector, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was assassinated last Friday in an attack near Tehran, attributed by Iran to Israel, its sworn enemy.

Israel has not officially responded to these accusations.

Iran claimed that its scientist was the victim of a

"complex"

operation

and blamed the Mossad, the Israeli external secret service.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had promised a response

"in time"

to this death which comes at a time when the United States, a key ally of Israel, begin a transition of power with the arrival of Joe Biden in the White House in January, to succeed Donald Trump.
