If it comes to alternating lessons, the grammar school in Dorfen sees itself well prepared.

Dorfen

- distance and digital technology - in Corona times they belong together.

The appropriate precautions are taken at the Dorfen grammar school.

This became clear in a video conference on Monday.

At the invitation of the parents 'council, 47 class parent representatives, headmaster Markus Höß and the chairwoman of the state parents' association of high schools in Bavaria, Susanne Arndt, took part.

"We see ourselves well prepared for the potential alternating lessons, even if we would have liked the information from the Ministry of Culture a little earlier," said Director Höß according to a press release from the school at the conference.

The school tries to stay in close contact with the parents even in difficult times.

The technical requirements at the grammar school in Dorfen have been massively improved: There are four iPad cases with 20 devices each, and the school has been connected to the fiber optic network since December 1st.

Children who do not have access to technology at home are supported by the possibility of borrowing digital devices.

Rules have also been made for pupils who have to go into quarantine: In this case, the teachers provide the pupils concerned with information, homework, blackboard pictures and more via the software MS-Teams.

In addition, all rooms of the Dorfen grammar school will receive CO2 traffic lights in December.

The parents' council supports the high school in an advisory capacity in these processes.

"This profitable cooperation on equal terms is of great advantage for everyone involved, as the well-being of the children is always kept in mind", adds Werner Schüler, Chairman of the Parents' Council.

The information is currently overturning, explained Susanne Arndt, chairwoman of the state parents' association of high schools in Bavaria.

The aim is always to get the best out of the students.

“One of the main demands of the LEV is that the coordination of the pandemic should be more orderly in the future.

Not every single school has to reinvent the wheel, ”said Arndt.

An example of this is MS Teams, a platform that combines chat, meetings, notes and attachments.

Their free license for schools expires at the turn of the year, and not every material expense manager continues to pay for the software.

"Fortunately, this is the case at the Dorfen grammar school," explained Höß.

The district of Erding has acquired an MS Teams license for all three high schools.

Werner Schüler also asked whether the goal could be for each student to be given a laptop.

Arndt sees this as a possible demand in the future, which, however, would first have to be resolved by the state parents' association.
