At 8:30 p.m. the day before yesterday (Tuesday), two teenagers aged 14 and 17, believed to have triad backgrounds, were suddenly attacked by six men wearing masks, knives and iron tongs when they were playing football at Hang Ping Street Playground in Kwai Chung. After the six assailants succeeded, they fled without a trace. The police arrived at the scene and sent two victims with injuries to their hands and feet to the hospital for treatment.
The Kwai Tsing Police District Anti-Triad Action Team took over the investigation. After intelligence analysis and in-depth investigation, it was found that the assailants had triad background and some were students in the district.
Police yesterday identified four persons involved in the case, aged between 13 and 18, and took action to arrest four assailants in Kowloon and Kwai Chung respectively.
It is understood that the incident involved a dispute over women.
Inspector Chen Shangli, the head of the anti-triad operations team of the Kwai Tsing Police District, said that the actual bodily injury caused by the attack is a serious crime. Once convicted, the maximum sentence is three years in prison. The public should not try the law.
In addition, Chen pointed out that since October this year, the police have detected 5 cases of youth bullying in the district, and the police will continue to crack down on related crimes.
Chen Shangli also said that the Kwai Tsing Police District will take a positive attitude and adopt an intelligence-led approach to grasp the situation in the district, and act in a timely manner to vigorously combat related crimes, and is very concerned about juvenile crimes, including assaults, wounding and cases involving triads. It will fully investigate and bring those involved to justice.
