The Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh held a critical symposium on the novel “Tears of Basil” by the writer Maysa Muhammad, which included impressionistic readings about the novel and its topics.
In his axis, critic Ahmed Nassar saw that the novel carries high symbolism and the ability to harmonize between form and content in it, highlighting the importance of significance, symbol, motivation and contemplation that he touched in the novel and the human concerns it bears.
The writer Samer Mansour referred to the various interesting conflicts in the events of the novel, explaining that the novelist presented her characters directly, and different opinions may be formed in this direction, and the narration gained an expressive ability through which the emotional movement sympathetic to the event was maintained by the reader.
The writer Qatada Al-Zubeidi, who moderated the symposium, linked the joints of the topics that were discussed, explaining the national vision and the role of women in facing war.
Novelist Muhammad concluded the symposium by explaining her aims with the novel and what she wants from society and women, indicating that the novel is similar to reality and is very specific to it.
