The Minister of Transformation and Public Service, Amélie de Montchalin, announced this Friday to AFP the introduction of an amendment to the Senate in order to suspend the waiting day in the event of sick leave for declared public officials positive for Covid-19.
This amendment will be debated on Monday as part of the budget bill.

This measure, which must be enacted by a decree in January and last until the end of the state of health emergency, according to the minister, aims to "
restore a balance
" with employees in the private sector, for whom a provision legislative already exists, but also with public officials who were declared "
contact cases
".
Indeed, the latter could already isolate themselves by benefiting from a special authorization of absence, without sick leave and without days of waiting, and therefore without loss of remuneration, specified the minister.
On the other hand, public officials declared positive for Covid-19 were placed on sick leave and penalized by this waiting day with a proportional loss of their remuneration.
Some, especially when they were asymptomatic, continued to come to work.

The waiting day, which results in a loss of remuneration for public officials in the event of sick leave / sickness, is not financially compensated, unlike the private one.
He had been suspended during the first confinement and then reinstated after the end of the state of health emergency on July 10, renewed since.
