Donald Trump remains President of the United States until January 20.
His will to challenge China, which he considers determined to dominate the world, does not weaken.
As if to put his successor up against the wall, the outgoing president is stepping up initiatives locking in sanctions against Chinese companies and interests.
The tactics are all the more effective since in Congress the bipartisan anti-Chinese consensus has never been stronger.

The latest example of punitive measures targeting Beijing is the Pentagon's placement of four new Chinese companies on the list of companies likely to be manipulated by the Chinese military.
Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp.
(Smic) and the oil giant China National Offshore Oil Corp.
(Cnooc) are the two main additions to the list which now has 35 firms.
The other two are China Construction Technology Co and China International Engineering Consulting Corp.
