The Finsingen municipal council has been concerned with the issue of climate protection managers for some time.

The committee has now agreed: a part-time employee should be hired.

Finsing

- The decision to hire a climate protection manager was not an easy one for the

Finsing

municipal council.

With a narrow majority of 9: 8 votes, the committee voted in its meeting for the creation of the new position - under certain conditions.

A few years ago there was already a discussion about engaging a climate protection manager together with some neighboring communities.

At that time, the project failed because there were too few communities that wanted to participate.

At the meeting of the Transport, Environment and Energy Committee in October, Bernhard Faschinger (Greens) brought the subject up again.

Discussions took place again in the local council.

Faschinger's goal: “We don't want to achieve a great external effect, but rather something should come out of it.

I would like to be a pioneer here. "He is well aware of the costs, but:" Climate change is an overarching problem.

It's about our livelihood.

We therefore have to be more sensitive to the topic than we have done with projects that we pushed off because of our finances. "

Lisa Buchmann, who works as such in Ebersberg, gave an insight into the everyday life of a climate protection manager.

The main aim is to create capacities for climate protection and to implement this with the necessary professional competence.

Buchmann illustrated with an example that this is urgently needed.

Accordingly, global warming by 1.8 degrees Celsius for Finsing in 2080 would mean a climate situation that is comparable to the current climate in East African Burundi.

She also presented a number of measures that would be less expensive, but more profitable, such as PV systems on properties, increasing the efficiency of street lighting and public relations.

Buchmann recommended that the existing climate protection concept be updated.

Expect it to cost almost 900 euros.

A climate protection manager would then receive 40 percent funding for the implementation of the concept for three years.

With funding, this would mean wage costs of around 13,000 euros per year for a part-time and 26,000 euros for a full-time position for the municipality.

Regina Haßelbeck (WGE) was not very enthusiastic about the proposal.

"I think that's basically good, but given our financial situation, the timing is very bad," she explained.

One should definitely pursue the project and possibly try again to share the measure with other communities.

Mayor Max Kressirer (WGE) also warned of the measure: “Every euro we spend will increase our debts.

Our hands are actually financially tied. "

Jürgen Lachmann (WGN) demanded that a possible climate protection manager must also have the necessary skills to be an energy advisor for citizens.

Gertrud Eichinger (SPD) spoke out in favor of the new position: “The tasks are all up now, but our people in the administration are already at the limit.

A climate protection manager would be trained accordingly and would no longer need training. ”She would advocate splitting between several municipalities, but one cannot wait long.

On the other hand, committee member Ludwig Lex (FWF) sees too many “frictional losses” in a measure shared with other communities.

He also imagines a climate protection manager whose tasks are more narrowly defined.

This is to ensure that the administration is relieved - also with regard to construction areas and new buildings.

“That could also be a construction technician, for example,” he says.

Julia Manu (CSU) warned against such a “fraudulent label”.

“Either we do it completely or not at all,” she demanded, pointing out that it is not a luxury that the community affords itself with it.

It is a social task that must be addressed.

Dieter Heilmair (CSU) said: “We should make the decision dependent on who we get and not make it at any price.

It has to be the right one. "

His proposal was finally approved by nine municipal councilors and thus the majority.

Should a suitable applicant be found, they should be hired on a part-time basis.

Otherwise, Finsinger reserves the right not to hire a climate protection manager.

The position is to be included in the budget consultations and advertised next year.
