In preparation for the optional dispersal of the 23rd Knesset, a meeting of the Council of Torah Scholars of the Degel HaTorah faction convened this morning (Friday) to discuss the recruitment and conversion laws.
Under the headline, "Attempts to undermine the foundations of education in educational institutions, and with the intention of harming the status of yeshivot members and the Jewish tradition on the subject of conversions," came to Rashbam Street in Bnei Brak, the residence of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, one of the ultra-Orthodox Lithuanian leaders. The president of the council, Rabbi Gershon Edelstein. The
chairman of Degel HaTorah, MK Moshe Gafni, clarified that "we will insist that if the budget law eventually comes, the recruitment law will come with it." To apologize to the great men of the Torah who are sitting here who ordered to continue their studies, they excuse this with various excuses. "The
chairman even referred to the withdrawal of the equality bill by blue and white.
According to him, "We will continue to fight the Knesset members of Degel HaTorah and the representatives of the local authorities in each and every city to fight for the vineyard of Beit Yisrael and for everything that is sacred and precious to us."

Earlier this month, the High Court ruled that the draft law would be repealed in three months, following which the exemption for yeshiva students from conscription into the IDF would be repealed on February 1.
This means that if a new bill is not promoted, the obligation to recruit will also apply to yeshiva students whose status is "his teaching, his art."
Ganz as defense minister was supposed to promote such a law but in the meantime he refuses due to political instability.
