Iran has told the UN Atomic Energy Agency that it plans to install three more advanced hubs at the Natanz nuclear facility, Reuters reported today (Friday).
According to the news agency, Iran has informed the IAEA that the operator of the fuel-enrichment facility at Natanz intends to begin installing three nastrifuges. These will join another sarcasm used to enrich uranium.
According to the nuclear agreement with the six powers, Tehran can only use the first-generation IR1 hub, which is characterized by low efficiency in the underground facility.
According to this report, Iran is about to use four advanced IR2 hubs.
As you may recall, at the beginning of last July, an explosion occurred at the underground facility in Natanz.
According to a report in the New York Times, the blast occurred as a result of an explosive device planted at the scene.
In 2010, the concentrations at the facility were shut down in what turned out to be a sophisticated cyber attack using the computer worm "Staxent".
The current move comes after the head of the Iranian nuclear program, Muhsin Fahrizda, was killed near Tehran a week ago.
Senior Iranian officials have claimed since the assassination that the operation would only spur the Islamic Republic to accelerate its nuclear program.
