The Ebersberg district clinic is shifting into the next gear in the fight against the corona virus.
The capacity limit has not yet been reached, but it is getting tighter.
Ebersberg
- After geriatrics, the hospital will close another internal medicine ward next week, says the Medical Director, Dr.
Peter Kreissl, upon request.
The outpatient operating theater and another operating theater also shut down.
This mode is currently planned until January 10th.
"It's about relieving the staff of the intensive care unit, the isolation ward and the emergency room," says the clinic director.
The care of Covid 19 patients and suspected coronavirus cases is time-consuming and labor-intensive.
“Each department must therefore reduce part of its capacity.” Less urgent planned operations would be postponed and the tasks of the closed wards would be distributed to others.
"We want to maintain the supply," says Kreissl.
"We are still receptive."
The director has to go to the emergency room at night
The tone of voice, as the clinic assesses its situation, audibly changed from major to minor within a week.
The clinic director speaks of a momentary sideways movement and existing reserves in the patient numbers.
In the past week he was called to the emergency room once at night because it threatened to buckle under the patient inflow.
We have to keep our staff able to act.

"We have to keep our staff able to act," says Kreissl.
It is important to conserve the reserves, "so that we don't suddenly go to the edge at some point."
But Kreissl says: "That will partly make itself felt in us in the next two weeks."
The head of doctors looks forward to the Christmas holidays with mixed feelings.
On the one hand, this time means fewer routine interventions and thus relief for the clinic.
On the other hand, it can be assumed that the announced relaxation of the contact restrictions will also increase the number of infections.
Kreissl says: "We are preparing." Yes
Corona in the clinic: the current numbers
As of Thursday, the district clinic reports 23 isolated patients in the coronavirus ward: seven suspected cases, 16 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
There are also three infected patients between 54 and 77 years of age who are artificially ventilated in the intensive care unit.
13 of 16 intensive care beds are occupied.
