As you may recall, the minister paid his first visit to Israel this week, quoting the Reuters news agency as saying, "We will treat everything as Israeli products. We have no problem with labeling or origin."

A source in the news agency claimed that the minister's statement was misinterpreted by an Israeli reporter and that the ministry was "committed to the unwavering position of the Bahrain government, which adhered to UN resolutions, the Arab League and the Islamic Cooperation Organization regarding Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Syrian Golan Heights."

As will be recalled, in the context of trade relations with Israel, al-Ziani said that the potential for trade volumes is very large and in many areas.

"This will not be my last visit here. I see it as my and ours' mission in Bahrain to pave the way for more countries to come after us. For me as Minister of Trade - the goal is to pave the way and let business people do everything they can.

"We will only provide the roads and regulation and let them flourish. We have an open and cosmopolitan way of life in Bahrain and the Israelis will find it very convenient to be in touch with us and do business."
