In the Weilheim-Schongau district, they will continue to rely on the yellow bag and not the yellow bin in the years to come.

In the future, the bags should be picked up every 14 days and no longer monthly.

  • The garbage fees in the Weilheim-Schongau district will remain stable in the years 2021 to 2024.

This was announced by EVA managing director Fritz Raab in the district committee.

  • Nevertheless, his association is planning major investments - especially at the Erbenschwang site.

  • The district committee rejected the yellow bin, it will remain with the yellow sacks in the future.

Three million of these are sold annually in the district.

District

- Every district councilor is sure to like to hear lectures like the one given by Fritz Raab, the managing director of the inherited recycling and waste disposal company (EVA).

In the district committee, Raab informed that the garbage fees will remain stable in the coming years until the end of 2024.

“That means that a normal household will continue to pay around ten euros per month for waste disposal,” says Raab.

He reported that at the end of the year, when the previous calculation period expires, a surplus of around eight million euros will have accumulated, which will be included in the calculation for the next three years.

This is a key reason why fees remain stable, even though EVA is planning massive investments over the next three years.

So the last remaining work on the press water fermentation plant should be done.

The construction of a new recycling center in Sindelsdorf is also on the plan.

For this, the farm in Penzberg is to be closed (we reported).

It is also planned to continue to invest in new photovoltaic systems.

Most of the money is invested in Erbenschwang itself on the EVA site.

The system is now 25 years old, which is why there is a considerable need for renovation and modernization - for example with the conveyor belts, according to Raab in the district committee.

This work is estimated at around 3.5 million euros.

Only the delivery charges increase by an average of ten percent

Only the delivery fees for building rubble and the like will rise from 2021, as the service providers who purchase these materials from the EVA have increased their prices.

On average, around ten percent more must be paid for each tonne delivered - on average around 30 euros more.

Nevertheless, the fee calculation for the years 2021 to 2024 was unanimously confirmed by the district committee.

There was also agreement on the second topic that Raab presented to the district committee.

It was about the disposal of packaging.

Raab reported that a new packaging law has been in force since January 2019, which prescribes higher collection quantities and recycling rates.

27 kilograms of packaging waste per inhabitant and year

On average, each resident of the district would produce 27 kilos of packaging waste per year.

That makes 3700 tons in the end.

To collect this garbage, around three million yellow bags would be given out in the district every year.

In view of the fact that these are made of plastic, there has been repeated calls for the introduction of a yellow bin in the past.

Raab calculated that this introduction would result in costs of around 1.2 million euros.

The amount of plastic that would be needed to produce the bins corresponds to that which will be produced in ten years from the issue of yellow sacks.

In the future, yellow bags are to be picked up every 14 days

In addition, there are weighty reasons that speak against the introduction of the yellow bin, the EVA managing director continued.

There is less “hidden household rubbish” in the yellow bags, which the employees would also be easier to control: “If you've been doing this for years, you will notice when you pick up whether there is only packaging waste in there,” says Raab.

In addition, such a yellow sack is more hygienic than a bin that has to be cleaned.

Raab therefore suggested that the yellow bags should be kept and that in future they could not only be picked up once a month as before, but every 14 days.

This can be counter-financed with the money from the dual system.

The district committee agreed that a corresponding tender should be prepared.

However, it may take a few years before that happens.

Paper bins for Weilheim, Penzberg and Peißenberg are still an option

Another advantage of not using the yellow bin is that there is not another bin in front of the house.

Because sooner or later a paper bin could land there - at least in Weilheim, Peißenberg and Penzberg, as Raab reported.

In the countryside, the associations continue to collect waste paper very well - however, in the larger cities and municipalities there are increasing problems to guarantee that the associations collect the waste paper regularly.

The blue bin was introduced in Schongau some time ago.

The experiences gained are consistently positive, said Raab.

"I have received no complaints about this matter," said Raab.
