The winter weather that began during the night (Friday to Saturday) in the coastal plain area and was characterized by rains and thunderstorms, began to reach the southern area in the afternoon, where the clear and beautiful weather was replaced by heavy rain and flooding in the area's streams.

Road 90 was blocked for traffic from the Dragot checkpoint towards the Dead Sea hotels in both directions after being flooded.

Police are asking passengers who are in the area to travel on alternative routes.

The weather tomorrow is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy, with local rain falling in the north and center of the country.

In the last few hours, large teams of rescuers went out into the area and evacuated from the many streams in the area, which are considered popular hiking sites, the many hikers who stayed at the place.

Among others, a small crater, Nahal Mazar, Nahal Sif, Nahal Gov, Nahal Tzin, Nahal Peres, Nahal Nekraot, Nahal Namia, Nahal Masur, Nahal Tamar and Tzafit were evacuated.

The Arava Rescue Unit said that it could be seen in the radar that additional amounts of rain were expected to reach the area from the west. Most of the hikers had been removed from the area, but there are still groups that have not been evacuated and attempts have been made to contact them.

The Nature and Parks Authority said that about 60,000 hikers visited the national parks and nature reserves today.

About 1,900 visitors came to the Tel Afek National Park, about 1,400 visited Caesarea, about 1,500 visited Banias and about 1,700 visited Beit Guvrin.
