This year there is a very special Advent campaign in Bichl.

Two young women had the idea to bring joy to many villagers and to surprise families in a special way every day.

Bichl

- Open a little door in a new place every day: This is available for all families in Bichl until Christmas Eve.

The idea has hit off so well and has already drawn such circles on the Internet that even citizens come from neighboring villages.

Christina Schmid (26) and Lilly Schöffmann (29) are happy about the attention, but have a big request: "It would be nice if people are so honest and respect that the gift bags are for the Bichler", say you.

Because behind this is an action in which quite a few in the village are involved.

Christina Schmid and Lilly Schöffmann are two neighbor friends who are currently on parental leave with their second child.

When it became clear, due to the corona pandemic, that there would also be restrictions during the Advent season this year, she was concerned with the idea of how to still arrange something for children.

So the idea of creating a special calendar was born.

When the two were discussing the implementation for a long time, the thought occurred to them: “We can do that for the whole village.” They built and implemented the whole thing in a fairly professional manner - especially when you know that the idea didn't come up until mid-November .

But the two got to work immediately: They wrote Bichler companies, associations, restaurateurs and some private individuals emails and asked for support in the form of monetary donations or donations in kind.

“There was a lot of feedback.

We didn't expect that at all, ”reports Lilly Schöffmann.

The idea was to set up 50 filled paper bags every day, in a different place every day: for example in front of the fire station, on the Hochbichl or at the bakery.

The bags are well packed and weatherproof in two transparent plastic boxes.

Where these are located can be found every evening from 6 p.m. on the specially created website www.bichl-mithaben.de.

A Bichler Internet professional built the site for them free of charge.

Because the demand was so great, there are already 70 bags every day.

The content is mainly tailored to families: On December 1st, for example, there were handicraft instructions for a very special star, lovingly packaged with small tags that the two friends and their children made themselves.

On December 2nd the action took place at the fire station.

Thanks to the support of the Bichler Floriansjünger, there were fire brigade pictures to color in, a small car to do handicrafts, colored pencils and a pixie booklet.

Other bags will contain recipes and small baking aids, for example.

In addition, vouchers from Bichler catering establishments will be raffled.

"It was important to us that we do something for the village and the local economy."

The two organizers are well networked in the Bichler associations.

Lilly Schöffmann, trained social worker, is involved in the fire brigade, among other things.

Christina Schmid, a trained hotel manager, helps with traditional costumes, mountain riflemen and Leonhardi.

"Everyone in the village who we told about our idea was immediately enthusiastic," says Schmid happily.

35 companies, associations and private individuals have donated.

Schmid also tried to find small gifts from across the region, for example from games and chocolate companies.

“But they all waved it off.

But it's understandable, because they get thousands of such inquiries every year. ”The churches were more generous in return, more precisely some archbishoprics to which Schmid sent an email.

She was surprised by the support from Cologne: "What, but that will not be revealed."

The two of them have no role model for the idea of the “Bichler Advent Calendar”.

"Other municipalities are welcome to imitate the project next year," says Lilly Schöffmann.

Every afternoon they fill the 70 bags together.

They ordered the paper bags from wholesalers.

Everything is calculated, the donations are enough.

“There are now boxes of materials everywhere at home,” says Schmid with a smile.

On the morning of the following day they meet to drive out.

Their small children are also there.

"We tell them that we support the Christ Child."

The two are very happy about the great response.

“You can feel how nice it is to give, just like that, without expecting anything in return,” says Schmid.

If there are any bags left over, they will be placed in front of the town hall on Christmas Day and Christmas Day.

The website has now also been expanded: citizens can upload audio and video files there, for example with music or songs they have played themselves.

In addition, you can download the handicraft instructions or further information about the contents of the bag every day.

There are also photos and information on the Facebook page “Bichler Advent Calendar”.
