The Hong Kong Customs took anti-illicit cigarette operations the day before (4th) and seized about 8 million suspected illicit cigarettes in Yuen Long, with an estimated market value of about 22 million yuan and a taxable value of about 15 million yuan.
So far this year, the number of illicit cigarettes seized by the customs has exceeded the single-year seizures of the past 20 years, and has surpassed the total number of illicit cigarettes seized in the past three years.
Senior Supervisor Li Jinrong of the Tax Crime Investigation Division of the Customs and the first group of the Tax Investigation Division of the Tax Crime Investigation Division official Guan Ting will explain the case later and summarize the statistics of the customs' anti-illicit cigarette activities this year.
In the Yuen Long anti-illicit cigarette operation, customs officers arrested a total of 4 men and 1 woman, aged between 35 and 65, and detained two containers suspected of being involved in the case.
