The Patriarch of Jerusalem and all the works of Palestine and Jordan condemned the attack by Israeli settlers yesterday on the Church of Gethsemane in occupied Jerusalem and their attempt to burn it down.

In a statement today, the Patriarch described this attack as a "racist crime that reveals an extremist mentality targeting churches and places of worship," calling on the international community to protect the holy sites in the Holy Land.

The Patriarch pointed out that the crime of burning the Church of Gethsemane is no less horrific and ugly than the occupation's attempts to control Palestinian lands and annex them to the Israeli entity.

In turn, the independent Nasserite movement in Lebanon (Al-Murabitun) confirmed that the continuous Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people and their sanctities will not end until the occupation ends.

And she added in a statement today that what is happening in occupied Palestine is a scheme that falls on the list of Israeli terrorism, calling on all national forces and freedom fighters of the world to confront this terrorism, racism and extremism and stop crimes against humanity against the Palestinian people.

For his part, the Mufti of Tire and Jabal Amel, Sheikh Hassan Abdullah, condemned the attempt to burn the Gethsemane Church, stressing that "the resistance and confrontation continues with the usurping Israeli entity as long as the land of Palestine is occupied."
