70 players from around the world have asked a UK law firm to take legal action over health issues related to head injuries during their careers.
A class action lawsuit inspired by that, massive, of 4,500 former NFL players (who had obtained 765 million dollars at the end of the trial).
Among them, Carl Hayman, the former pillar of the All Blacks (41 caps, passed through Toulon and Pau) or the former England flanker (10 selections), Michael Lipman, reduced at 40 by symptoms of mild dementia .
Now living in Australia, he is estimated to have suffered 30 concussions during his career!
Scientific trials have established a clear link between repeated concussions and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (TE), a degenerative disease of the brain that can lead to dementia.
The International Federation (World Rugby), the English (RFU) and Welsh (WRU) federations are particularly targeted by these 70 players.
Among them, we also find XIII players, such as the Englishman Mouritz Botha.
