Sweida-Sana
The quantity of sterilized and sifted wheat seeds sold by the branch of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication in Sweida to farmers has reached to date two thousand tons of varieties (Sham 3, Duma 1 and Research 11).
In a statement to SANA's correspondent, the director of the foundation's branch, Engineer Wael Al-Tawil, indicated that there is a demand to buy wheat seeds to implement the agricultural plan, indicating that the quantities sold from them so far are more than past years, due to farmers ’tendency to cultivate and increase the areas cultivated with the crop.
He indicated that the sales are carried out through the warehouses of the Corporation's branch and through agricultural banks in the cities of Shahba and Salkhad and the town of Al-Qarya, at a price of 450 liras per kilogram, either in cash or under loans from the Agricultural Bank.
The Sweida Agriculture Directorate had increased the wheat cultivation plan for the current season from 34,685 hectares to 40,763 hectares.
