A cow wandering on the A72 motorway, near Andrézieux-Bouthéon, in the Loire, for more than an hour and a half, was shot in desperation by a CRS in order to be able to reopen the axis to the traffic, we learned from firefighters and police sources.

The cow, which had become aggressive under the effect of panic, was shot at 1:25 pm using the service pistol of a CRS of the motorway platoon, with the agreement of the farmer who came on site, who, himself, did not succeed in making his animal listen to reason
, ”said Captain Philippe Villain, commander of this unit.
The cattle, which had been wandering on the highway since 11:45 am, caused a collision between two cars, one of the drivers of which was slightly injured.
The animal also charged some of the people who tried to get him to leave the traffic lanes, the officer said.
For an hour and a half, traffic was very disturbed on this axis, north of Saint-Étienne, stopped in one direction and reduced to one out of three lanes in the other.
