The group of Hondurans undertook the trip from the Great Metropolitan Bus Station, located in San Pedro Sula, north of Tegucigalpa, and will leave the country through the Agua Caliente border, in the department of Ocotepeque, border area with Guatemala, said the defender of the Human Rights of migrants.

This exodus occurs two days after the United States government extended the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) until October 2021 for Hondurans who have already been covered by this program since 1999, allowing them to continue working legally in the North American country.

In social networks, migrant caravans are already being summoned from the first days of January, although no person or organization is responsible for the call.

Despite the informality of this call, the Foreign Ministry said before a CNN query that the only thing the government can do is warn migrants of the risks to which they are exposed when making the journey.
