Apple wants to set itself apart from corporations such as Facebook or Google with stricter data protection requirements in the App Store.
But that causes trouble when it comes to competition.
Apple
has increased the requirements for data protection in apps.
In the future, all developers will have to explain to their users what happens to their information.

Apple
* recently had a lot of trouble with its
App Store
.
First, the popular music streaming service
Spotify
accused
the group of abusing its market position in the App Store and of
preferring
its own music service
Apple
Music and filed a complaint with the EU Commission.
Then the game developer
Epic
Games
dragged
the Californians in front of the Kadi in the summer.
The trigger for the orchestrated attack was an update for the popular online game
Fortnite
, which enabled users to buy additional game items directly in the application instead of via Apple.
Fortnite flew from the App Store within hours.
Now
is also
messing
with
Apple
.
Facebook's
messaging service
accuses
Apple of
distorting competition in data protection.
The accusation: While Apple
is obliging all developers
with the new
iOS
14
operating system
to break down exactly what data they are collecting,
Apple is
exempting itself
from this rule for its own
iMessage
service.
iMessage is an integral part of iOS and is
automatically delivered
with every
Apple
mobile device
.
WhatsApp complains, however, that the group does not specify
which data is
delivered
to
Apple
.

"We are of the opinion that regulations for apps from first and third party providers should be uniform," said a WhatsApp spokeswoman for the US website Axios.
It is good that users are provided with “easily readable information about how their data is handled”.
"We think it is important that users can compare this information with downloaded apps with the corresponding data protection information of preinstalled apps such as iMessage," said a company spokesman.
Apple: Group wants more transparency in user data
At the global developer conference in June,
Apple
announced that it would increase data protection requirements with the launch of iOS14 in September and asked developers to update the relevant information on the use of personal information by January 2021.
Apple
rejects the allegations.
The handling of user data is broken down in detail on the company's own website.
In the industry, the outcome of the trial of strength is closely followed.
In order to make itself
less vulnerable
after the public attack against
Apple
and to prevent a possible ban from the App Store, WhatsApp has now updated its data protection information.
