Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo López reported on Wednesday that he began a tour of Colombia, where he plans to meet with representatives of the Executive Power and "all political forces," according to his press team in a statement.

López's tour, according to the statement, seeks to strengthen cooperation with the team of Juan Guaidó, president of the National Assembly of Venezuela and recognized by at least 55 nations as interim president of the country.

López, who presents himself as the "presidential commissioner" of the so-called Government Center - led by Guaidó -, plans to meet Venezuelans who participate in the popular consultation called by the National Assembly - controlled by the opposition - for this Sunday, December 12.

The statement indicated that among the objectives of this trip is to form an international coalition unit with Colombia as a "key ally" to exert pressure on the government of the questioned President Nicolás Maduro.

He added that López will express his gratitude to the government of the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, for their commitment and support to Guaidó.

Neither López's press team nor the presidency of the Venezuelan National Assembly have released more details about his agenda.

The journey of Leopoldo López

The opposition leader and founding member of Voluntad Popular left the residence of the Spanish ambassador in Caracas on October 24.

Shortly after, it became known that he was in Madrid with his family.

And that the decision to leave Venezuela was "personal and voluntary."

After López's departure, Maduro said, without presenting evidence, that the opponent was a terrorist.

López had been at the Spanish diplomatic headquarters since April 2019.

He remained there after having participated in the failed civic-military uprising of the 30th of that month with the president of the National Assembly, Juan Guaidó.
