The Mexican Ministry of Health has signed an agreement to buy 35 million doses of the Chinese CanSino Biologics vaccine against the coronavirus, said Mexican Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard in a tweet published Wednesday night. .

Ebrard had previously said that Mexico expected to formalize the agreement this week.

Mexico has confirmed almost 1.2 million cases of coronavirus, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The country has reported the fourth highest number of deaths from the virus in the world, with more than 111,000 deaths.
