Rebecca Reusch misses: Journalists publish again previously unknown details
The creators of the podcast
“In the dark.”
Publish the new details through discussions with experts, friends of the missing and the public prosecutor's office
.
The Rebecca Reusch case ”
weekly.
In episode one, the journalists surprised everyone with exclusive details.
If it were up to the two makers of the podcast, who obtain their information from people with access to files, the girl's brother-in-law was even proven to be a lie.
These are the journalists behind the podcast
Both journalists say they work for large media companies.
Miriam Arndts therefore mainly produces for ARD.
Lena Niethammer writes as a freelance writer for Spiegel, Die Zeit and SZ-Magazin, among others.
But episode two also reveals previously unknown material, episode three published previously unknown messages from the student.
The WhatsApp history raises questions.
Because for their research, the two journalists even visited the street where Rebecca Reusch had slept the night she disappeared.
The then 15-year-old stayed in the house of her sister and brother-in-law in Berlin-Britz, a district of Berlin-Neukölln.
What Niethammer and Arndts want to know would put the case of the missing Rebecca in a completely new light.
A neighbor explains to the two journalists that she saw a girl on the street "late morning" on February 18th.
Rebecca Reusch misses: neighbor describes mysterious encounter - and interesting detail
The "tall" girl is said to have had her hair down and a
pink blanket under her arm
.
Particularly mysterious:
Investigators
published a few days after Rebecca disappeared that a
purple blanket had disappeared
with the girl
.
“It rained the night before.
Not exactly picnic weather, ”the
neighbor
is said to
have thought
when
they met.
When the
neighbor
greeted
the girl
, she just looked at her grimly.
“She has a bad mood on her face,” the neighbor is said to have thought.
The neighbor explains to
the
makers of the podcast
that she checked her watch when she entered her house.
It was shortly after eleven thirty.
When she saw the
photo of the missing Rebecca
in the newspaper a few days later, the
neighbor from Maurerweg
realized that it was the grim-looking girl she met on February 18.
Rebecca Reusch misses: Neighbor reports interesting encounter - but investigators apparently decline
Although she reported the
encounter to the police
, they only waved it off.
"Yes / Yes.
That couldn't be.
The investigation would have resulted in something completely different, ”the
police officer
is said to have
replied
to the neighbor
.
This is why she felt she was not taken seriously.
The neighbor has
never heard from the investigators
since
then
, and no further inquiries have been made.
As the
journalists
further explain
in the podcast
, the police are apparently also said to have given up on a
current demand
.
Accordingly, the neighbor was treated “like all other whistleblowers, appropriately and respectfully”.
“Then as now, your perception did not
match the objective state of investigation
.
So woman [] must be wrong, "the makers of the
podcast
read the
police statement
.
Rebecca Reusch misses: Berlin police reject allegations - and confirm their own suspicions
In the second episode of the podcast, the two
journalists also play a video for the Berlin public prosecutor's office
.
This was published exactly one year after the
student disappeared
.
In it, prosecutor Martin Glage affirmed that investigators are still sure that Rebecca Reusch could not have left the house alive.
It can be ruled out that the girl left the house voluntarily.
A kidnapping can also be safely ruled out.
"In this respect, we think little of all the conspiracy theories, some of which were spread in public," the video can be heard.
The neighbor of Rebecca Reusch's family, who also claims to have seen the girl in the morning, also asserts in an interview with
Lena Niethammer
and
Miriam Arndts
that she was not questioned by investigators.
Although she lives only 100 meters from the house on Maurerweg.
Rebecca Reusch misses: The student claims to have seen another witness on the day of her disappearance
But the
neighbor of the Reusch family is not the only person
who wants to see Rebecca on the day of her disappearance.
The then 15-year-old claims to have seen another witness at a bus stop.
The then 18-year-old claims to have seen the missing Rebecca on the evening of her disappearance.
The girl stood behind her and phoned that she hadn't got on the bus.
She reported that to the
investigators
at the time
.
The witness is very sure about their meeting, after all, she has known Rebecca for years.
She was with the sister of the missing at the cheerleading.
And Lena Niethammer and Miriam Arndts also report about another witness who Rebecca claims to have seen on the street on the morning of her disappearance in Maurerweg.
But whether the observation could actually have been Rebecca remains unclear.
It is also unclear what exactly must have happened in the case of Stefan T. who was missing in Berlin.
The prosecution assumes cannibalism and a sex crime.
