Coyote announces level crossings

2020-12-11T04:08:01.433Z

NEWS - In partnership with SNCF Réseau, this community service warns its 5 million members of the presence of rail tracks on their journeys.

The numbers are cold in the back.

Last year, despite awareness campaigns, 20 people were killed at a level crossing.

This is due to the lack of vigilance and the inappropriate behavior of these road users.

Every year, 16 million vehicles cross one of the 15,000 level crossings across the country every day.

To reduce these road tragedies, SNCF Réseau and the Coyote community service have come together to alert the 5 million members of its community of the presence of a railway line on the route they take.

After the launch last summer of the “Motorway personnel” alert in partnership with Autoroute Trafic, Coyote is thus contributing a little more to improving road safety.

Coyote

This is how Coyote integrates the data made available by SNCF Réseau.

The database can be updated regularly, without user intervention.

In practice, members of the Coyote community will be able to view the location of level crossings on their terminals (Coyote boxes or applications) using an icon on the map.

In addition to the visual signage, there is an audible alert when approaching the railway line, and a message "Caution, level crossing".

This alert supports the signage already present along the roads and allows road users to be extra vigilant.
