The big night is not for today.

It will not be for December 15, nor for New Year's Eve on the 31st either. Prime Minister Jean Castex unveiled this Thursday evening the terms of a largely lightened deconfinement, marked by fears of an epidemic resumption that threatens us.

December 15, Christmas, New Year… the calendar for the coming weeks

During his evening press conference, an exercise in which he and the French are now familiar, the Prime Minister confirmed lowered claims.

Here's all you need to remember.

Health concerns

“On December 15, if we have reached around 5,000 contaminations per day and around 2,500 to 3,000 people in intensive care, we will then be able to take a new step.

Then the confinement can be lifted.

These were the words of Emmanuel Macron during his speech on November 24.

If the resuscitation figures are rather good, the daily number of contaminations remains twice the target set.

"The health situation has improved considerably in recent weeks but it has stalled for several days", noted this Thursday evening Jean Castex, still noting a much more favorable situation in the intensive care services and thanking the French for the efforts made. these last weeks.

“We are on a kind of plateau.

The number of new contaminations is no longer reduced and tends to increase again ”, regrets the Prime Minister however.

He evokes as possible reasons "the reduction of measures and traffic flows" as well as a trend which actually affects our neighbors, in this winter period.

"We will not reach the 5,000 cases diagnosed per day," concedes Olivier Véran.

"We are not yet out of the second wave," he says.

Thanks to winter, the Minister of Health estimates that there will be "more patients hospitalized on December 15 than there were on May 11 during the deconfinement.

"

Curfew from 8 p.m. starting Tuesday, December 15

For all these reasons, the government has decided to maintain a fairly restrictive regime.

Certainly, the country will indeed be deconfined on December 15.

But while the President of the Republic announced a little more than two weeks ago a curfew at 9 p.m., the executive finally decided to cut it by one hour.

The ban on travel will therefore finally begin at 8 p.m.

It will end at 6 a.m.

"We are moving to a new stage but the rules will be stricter," confirms Jean Castex.

We will reinstate a curfew as of December 15, but it will be tightened.

And strictly controlled.

Certificates will no longer be in effect outside of curfew hours.

Present this Thursday evening, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin specified on this subject that travel between regions will be authorized.

Travel will be prohibited from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

New Years Eve is sacrificed

Decline, again, as regards the end of year celebrations, qualified as risk factors by the Prime Minister.

"The experience feedback from what happened in the United States or Canada shows it," he says.

"We will be able to move freely on the evenings of December 24 and 31, to share these moments with the family," however promised on November 24 last Emmanuel Macron.

While recommending not to meet with more than six adults.

The government, after hours and hours of consultation, finally decided to maintain the curfew for the night of New Year's Eve.

“We will be uncompromising on unauthorized gatherings and wild parties,” promises Gérald Darmanin, who adds that more than 100,000 law enforcement officers will be mobilized that evening.

Should you go get tested before the Christmas holidays?

“If you have any doubts, you can get tested,” explains Olivier Véran.

But do not use the test as a sort of immunity totem ”, noting that relatives could be carriers without being positive.

Cinemas, theaters and museums will remain closed

And if all the businesses were able to reopen their doors on November 28, cinemas, museums and theaters will have to take their troubles patiently.

The health targets are not being met and the government has decided to keep them closed.

These establishments will have to wait three more weeks, or next January 7 to be precise.

It will be the same for the reception of the public in the stadiums.

“Even if all these establishments have health protocols, the logic we must follow is to avoid mixing flows.

I know how well the cultural sector was prepared, that everything was ready for the curtains to rise and the screens to light up, deplores the head of government, who evokes a difficult decision.

"

What about January 20?

These announcements inevitably throw trouble on the date of January 20, which was supposed to mark the reopening of restaurants and the resumption of courses in high schools in 100% face-to-face.

The government had even anticipated a resumption of tutorials in physics and some courses, from the start of the January.

Will this schedule be called into question?

The Prime Minister did not give details, simply indicating that bars and restaurants will not be able to reopen in the coming weeks.

No compulsory isolation

To ensure that sick people do isolate themselves, Jean Castex ensures that he has considered the path of a legislative change to force patients to isolate themselves, under penalty of sanctions.

This lead was ultimately not adopted, the Prime Minister arguing in particular ethical and legal issues.

And the lack of political consensus.

The government therefore relies more on support.

Each positive person will be offered a home visit to be able to test those around the patient.

A charter will be given to the patient as soon as a test is performed so that the person undertakes to isolate himself if the test were to be positive.

Olivier Véran also congratulated himself on the rise of antigenic tests in the country and the satisfactory deadline for the results of PCR tests.

Fears about vaccines?

In the UK, the vaccination campaign has already started, revealing adverse reactions for two patients with allergies.

On Wednesday, Professor Eric Caumes expressed his concerns to the Parisian, while the vaccine developed by the Pfizer laboratory seems to have a high rate of adverse effects.

Should we review the schedule?

The Prime Minister first confirmed that the vaccination campaign should initially protect the most vulnerable.

Regarding the doubts about the side effects, Olivier Véran said that the results of a study published in a famous scientific journal only found mild side effects and no serious side effects.

"In England, there were two serious side effects, these are patients who suffer from severe allergies", adds the Minister of Health, specifying that precautions may have to be taken for prescriptions.
