The contrast is striking.
How does the same police force, who unrelentingly punish the slightest person who has gone to buy their bread without certification, lets week after week hordes of black blocs run wild in our cities?
One could not imagine a worse admission of helplessness for the police, who are also the first victims of this resignation: there were 67 wounded in their ranks, just during the violence of last weekend.
Each time, the explanation given is the same.
The police could not intervene against these vandals without risking injury or death;
To let them do so would therefore be a lesser evil.
We will not comment on the first statement, for lack of sufficient competence in the maintenance of order, but we cannot in any case approve the second.
Because black blocs, beyond the damage they commit, undermine the very principle of authority.
