The corona pandemic is forcing airlines to take exceptional hygiene measures.
Flight attendants in China are now even supposed to wear diapers.
On November 25th, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) released a new guide for the aviation industry.
It contains some suggestions which crew members should adhere to in order to avoid infection with the coronavirus *.
One of them stipulates that
flight attendants
should
wear diapers in the future
.
Corona: Airline personnel in China are required to wear diapers
In a section of the 38-page guide, according to the US broadcaster CNN - which has partially translated the document into English - aircrews are advised to wear "medical masks, double-layer disposable medical gloves, goggles, disposable hats, disposable protective clothing and disposable shoe covers".
It also states: "It is recommended that cabin crew members
wear disposable diapers and not use the toilets
, unless there are special circumstances to avoid the risk of infection."
According to a report by the
Bloomberg
news portal
, China's civil aviation authority said the recommendation for
charter flights to and from countries with more than 500 infections per million people applies
.
Pilots are exempt from this.
The authority wants to avoid that flight attendants are in places where the
risk of infection is
higher
on board
.
In August 2020, for example, a South Korean woman was very likely to be infected with the
corona virus
in the aircraft
toilet
- the only place on board where she had not worn a mask.

corona rules
generally have to be observed on board. For exemption from the mask requirement, Lufthansa and Eurowings are demanding a medical certificate and a negative corona test.
In-flight service on many aircraft is severely restricted.
