After an interruption due to the coronavirus last March, the “Jonzac surgeon” was tried behind closed doors from November 30 to December 3 for “rape” and “sexual assault” on four minors at the time of the facts: a patient, two nieces and a neighbor.
The attorney general requested fifteen years of criminal imprisonment;
the Assize Court of Charente-Maritime has chosen to follow these requisitions.

This is only the first part of the charges against Joël Le Scouarnec.
The former doctor is suspected of 312 rapes and sexual assaults, mostly of children, during his thirty-year career in hospitals in western France.
The investigation of this case is underway in Lorient.
