The pilot was accused in particular of violations of the rules of service by negligence and the military prosecutor had asked for a suspended fine Thursday, during his indictment, for several violations of the military regulations by negligence as well as for having destroyed military equipment by negligence.
But, in its judgment rendered on Friday in Aarau in northern Switzerland, the Military Tribunal 2 did not follow up and ruled in favor of the defense, which asked for an acquittal.
On October 14, 2015, the pilot actuated the ejection seat of his aircraft, which had become uncontrollable during a military exercise.
He was slightly injured.
The plane crashed in Glamondans, a town in Doubs, located not far from Besançon and near the Swiss border.
The damage reached 55 million Swiss francs - around 51 million euros - according to the indictment.
The accused pilot was training in aerial combat with two other Tigers F-5 aircraft of the Swiss Air Force.
In the last phase of the exercise, the aircraft had entered a spin and quickly lost altitude, forcing the pilot to eject.
