According to Article 24(5) of the District Councils Ordinance, if a district councillor fails to attend the relevant district council meetings for 4 consecutive months and fails to obtain the consent of the district council before the deadline, he will lose Eligibility to serve as a Member of Parliament for the remaining term.
According to a document from the Central and Western District Council, the next district council meeting is tentatively scheduled to be held on January 14 next year. Xu Zhifeng may automatically lose his seat in May next year at the latest.
According to the documents of the Home Affairs Department, the monthly salary of this term of district councillors is 33,950 yuan. In other words, Xu Zhifeng may still receive a total of 169,750 yuan for five months before losing his seat.
However, when Xu Zhifeng responded to the inquiry, he said that he had not yet decided whether he would voluntarily resign from his post, and the bureau did not rule out that the payment of food would be stopped.
