Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, received Edward Shaiban, Regional Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for the Middle East and North Africa, where the two sides discussed ways to develop cooperation relations between the Syrian government and UNICEF.

Minister Al-Miqdad expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by UNICEF in Syria, especially in the fields of education and health, stressing that the Syrian government is ready to provide the required facilities for international organizations operating in Syria to ensure the provision of effective humanitarian activities that contribute to increasing the ability of the Syrian people to face the current challenges created by the procedures. In this context, Minister Al-Miqdad stressed the need for UNICEF to increase the volume of its humanitarian activities in Syria and intensify its capabilities, especially in supporting the school sector, which terrorism has destroyed a large part of, and in making efforts to obtain anti-Corona vaccines to overcome the effects of this difficult crisis.

For his part, Shaiban praised the facilities provided by the Syrian government to UNICEF for the sake of the success of its tasks, stressing its determination to move forward with its humanitarian activities in Syria in a way that would contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people, especially children.

Shaiban referred to the efforts made by UNICEF in cooperation with the Ministries of Health and Education and the World Health Organization to obtain Syria's anti-Corona vaccines in the coming period.

Ambassador Milad Attia, Director of the Organizations Department, Dr. Abdullah Hallaq, Director of the Minister’s Office, Nidaa Al-Sousi from the Organizations Department, Yamen Badr from the Minister’s Office, and UNICEF Country Representative Bo Victor Nylund, UNICEF Country Representative and Bashar Al-Atrash, Head of External Relations and Protocol at UNICEF.
