Following Tsing Yi District Councillors Tan Jiajun and Xian Haohui announced their withdrawal from the Civic Party last night (11th), Southern District Councillor Yu Junxi also announced their withdrawal from the Party today (12th).

Yu Junxi wrote an article on Facebook early this morning, saying that after thorough consideration, he decided to withdraw from the Civic Party from now on, and thanked the Civic Party for its careful cultivation and guidance since 2016.

He also thanked Chen Shuzhuang, Zheng Dahong and Liang Zhaoxin from the Hong Kong Island team of the Civic Party for their teaching, which enabled him to contribute more to the democracy movement.

Yu Junxi, Tan Jiajun, and Xian Haohui did not disclose the reasons for quitting the party. When Xian Haohui accepted the "Hong Kong 01" inquiry, he stated that he and Tan Jiajun both withdrew due to personal reasons.

After the three quit the party, the Civic Party lost its sole stake in the Southern District, while the only Lihua District Councillor Zhang Junqiao in Kwai Tsing District was left.

Yu Junxi wrote an article that even if his identity changes, his original aspiration to fight for democracy and serve the community remains the same, and he will continue to cooperate with other democratic comrades to contribute to the democratic movement wherever he can.

The Civic Party also posted a post on Facebook, expressing its heartfelt gratitude to the three people for their dedication and hard work for Hong Kong and the Civic Party over the years.

The post also praised the three excellent politicians and thanked them for fighting together with the three. They are "comrades-in-arms for one day, and comrades-in-arms for life." I hope that we can still cooperate on different issues in the future.

They also expressed the hope that they will meet again on the road of democracy, and the Civic Party will continue to walk with Hong Kong people.

Eastern District Councillor Liang Zhaoxin, who also belongs to the Civic Party, also commented on Yu Junxi's post, expressing respect for his decision.

After the extension of the Legislative Council, Chen Shuzhuang, a member of the Legislative Council, refused to remain in office for personal reasons and announced his withdrawal from the party. A total of 4 members of the Civic Party resigned from the party this year.

In addition, after the three legislators Guo Rongkeng, Guo Jiaqi, and Yang Yueqiao of the Civic Party were disqualified as members of the National People's Congress, Guo Rongkeng also announced his withdrawal from politics.

Earlier news reported that the party’s executive committee and district councilors had exchanged views after the DQ turmoil, and some of them suggested whether the Civic Party should be dissolved.
