She was hanging upside down on the branch, a fish hook protruding from her leg: a crow was rescued on Friday at the Thenner Weiher from an agonizing death.

She's not over the hill yet.

Wartenberg / Walpertskirchen - Michaela Maier from Walpertskirchen writes about an "Advent story" on Facebook.

The veterinarian's assistant runs the wildlife sanctuary “Das wilde Kinderzimmer”, which is affiliated with the Erding Animal Welfare Association, and tells of a rescue operation at Thenner Weiher that saved a crow from its painful death on Friday.

The Advent story was initially more of a horror story.

“The bad luck raven”, as Maier aptly put it, had got caught in a fishhook that was probably left lying around.

It was stuck in her leg.

When asked by our newspaper, the Wartenberg fire brigade commander Martin Stöckl reported that the crow subsequently got stuck on the branch of a tree because there was also a piece of string on the hook.

A rider from Munich saw the crow hanging upside down on the branch.

When that was still the case, when she later passed the place again, the Munich woman acted.

She tried to loosen the animal with a rake and scissors, but couldn't.

Ultimately, the Wartenberg fire department was alerted, which was able to rescue the bird from its predicament.

“I've never seen our fire brigades fail to help when it came to saving a living being.

It doesn't matter whether it's the swans from the Kronthaler Weiher, the stork from Langengeisling, which they put back into the nest with a crane at 10 p.m.

Today the crow ... And the many deer they save from the Isar Canal, ”writes Maier on the Facebook page of her sanctuary.

She also thanks the Munich resident for her commitment and the Langenpreisingen veterinarian Alfred Ertl.

He treated the crow after it was released.

The bird is now in Maier's wildlife sanctuary.

When asked, the vet's assistant told our newspaper that the crow might nip when you get too close.

She also has a lot of diarrhea.

“But I hope she can do it,” says Maier.

Ducks get caught in fishing hooks on the bank, that happens again and again.

For Maier, however, the fall of the crow is a clear sign that an angler has carelessly thrown his hook away or simply left it lying there.
