Will Yannick Jadot be the environmental candidate for the 2022 presidential election?
The answer is far from obvious.
Guest of the RTL-Le Figaro-LCI Grand Jury, the MEP Europe-Ecology-Les-Verts affirmed to “
prepare
” for it, while maintaining the vagueness of his possible nomination.
The suspense is not yet over.
Despite the wish expressed by the ecologist this summer to nominate an environmental candidate "
before January"
, it will still be necessary to wait ten months.
Health crisis requires, the second wave of the Covid-19 epidemic has pushed back the deadline.

This is no longer relevant,
" said the elected official.
"I will not bypass EELV"
For the MEP, the imperative remains a "
single candidacy of a rally that goes between Mélenchon and Macron
".
The way to achieve this - the organization of a primary environmentalist - is however questionable.

If at some point, collectively, we think that this primary is no longer useful (...), we will have to ask the question of its relevance.
(...) All these intermediate stages must be reassessed on a single objective: to come together to win,
”he insisted.
If the elected official has not hidden his presidential ambition for several months, he nevertheless affirmed that he would not embark on the ultimate race without the support of his political family.
“
I will not bypass EELV (...).
If I do not go to the presidential election, I will obviously support the candidacy (of the party),
”he said, while other environmentalists such as Sandrine Rousseau, former spokesperson for the party, or Eric Piolle, mayor de Grenoble, have expressed similar ambitions.

Primary or not, the MEP still says he is "
preparing
" to wear the colors of EELV in 2022. "

Because I think that we need in our country in 2022 an alternative which is an exciting alternative, which gives us collectively hope (...).
We need this alternative.
In 2016, Yannick Jadot had already won the environmentalist primary, before finally joining forces with Benoît Hamon, candidate of the Socialist Party.
For now, the elected prefers to play the reserve card.
