The group of hackers managed to break into the computer systems of the US Treasury Department and the agency responsible for US policy in the fields of Internet and communications and stole information, the Reuters news agency reported tonight (Sunday), quoting experts in the subject.
According to the report, the group acted with the backing of a country whose identity has not yet been determined.
State Security Council spokesman John Oliott said the reports were familiar to him and his men.
"We are taking the necessary steps to identify and address all possible issues related to this situation."

Three people involved in the incident told Reuters that there was a fear among the American intelligence community that hackers would use a tool similar to the one used by them in an attack to break into other government agencies in the United States.
According to one source, the break-in was so significant that it led to the United States National Security Council convening in the White House.
