A delegation from the Emirates and Bahrain participated tonight (Monday) in the fifth Hanukkah candle lighting ceremony at the Western Wall plaza.

The meeting was attended by Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, Acting Mayor of Jerusalem Rabbi Eliezer Rauchberger and other public figures.

Health Minister Edelstein said: "I was not privileged to light the fifth candle of Hanukkah. At that moment tens of thousands of people stood by me who do not usually take pictures and in the last year they did not have a single moment - I mean doctors, nurses, auxiliaries, all those who fight all day In the corona virus.

"As in those days, even at that time we did not rely only on the miracle. Many worked nights and nights in the full sense of the word to bring this miracle closer. Hence I want to say thank you to them also in their name. They believed that the people of Israel could be saved from the plague. "We hope that from these lights of Hanukkah came one great light for the people of Israel," he added.

Edelstein sent congratulations to MK David Bitan, who fell ill in Corona.

"You teach us what heroism is"

Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, rabbi of Jerusalem, stated: "This lighting unites all the people of Israel. Take a good look at the flame, despite all its shades and colors. It is one that rises and shines and lights itself. We with Israel are built of different tribes and denominations, and that is our glory. "We can be separated even as a hair's breadth. We are allowed to disagree with each other, to think different thoughts from each other and also to do diverse and different actions, but to remain brothers. Brothers who have never separated and will never separate."

Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rabbi of the Western Wall and the Holy Places: "Tonight we are especially excited to host you here - representatives of the Israeli health system. Our rabbis have taught us that there are many different types of heroism. We were privileged to see with our own eyes your heroism. The heroism of the emergency rooms and the wards. The heroism of the long shifts and the endless worry. You who are at the forefront of the struggle teach us every day what heroism is, what are mental strengths.

"On behalf of the whole people of Israel, I want to thank you, bless you and send you strength. A little of the light repels much of the darkness. Your light - light of mission, light of love of Israel, light of devotion - illuminates us all. Who believed that peace would come to our home In such a glorious way. "

He said, "It is a Hanukkah miracle to see a delegation from the Emirates and Bahrain with us lighting a candle."
