: Some citizens want to
escape
the
corona lockdown rules in Germany
on
vacation
in the sun.
Mallorca
is the new
Covid-19 hotspot in Spain
.
The government of the
Balearic island is
therefore imposing new, tightened
corona rules
.
Shortly before
Christmas
and
New Year's Eve
, such entry is only possible for foreigners under difficult conditions.
Munich / Palma de Mallorca - Omnipresent
Corona crisis
.
And now that too: Probably the most popular holiday island for Germans, its
corona restrictions are
massively
tightened
from Tuesday (December 15).
We are of course talking about
Mallorca
, the holiday destination of many tourists in the
Mediterranean
.
Coronavirus pandemic: Mallorca is Spain's new Covid-19 hotspot
The background:
Mallorca
is now the absolute
Covid-19
hotspot in Spain
in the
coronavirus pandemic
.
The number of
new corona infections
had risen to 336 within 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants.
For comparison: According to the Spanish Ministry of Health, this value was last at 190 on the mainland. In
Germany
, the
7-day incidence
- as of December 14 - is 176.
The regional government of the
Balearic Islands
reacted now - and shortly before the
Christmas
vacation of many Germans.
Specifically: From Tuesday, December 15,
the highest level of the five-stage (0 to 4)
Corona
protocol will
apply
again
to
Mallorca
, as the head of government of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, announced this Monday (December 14).
Christmas vacation in the corona crisis: difficult entry for German tourists to Mallorca
The contact restrictions and requirements should initially apply until December 28th.
One consequence:
anyone
traveling
to the
Balearic Islands
from abroad and the rest of
Spain
must present a negative
PCR test
, which must not be older than 72 hours.
Children under six are excluded;
the test result can also be written in German.
This makes it extremely difficult for tourists to enter the island, on whom the island is economically dependent.
In
Mallorca
, only a maximum of six people are allowed to meet.
Furthermore, the
night curfew
, which applies between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and which should actually be
relaxed
for the holidays at
Christmas
, is being extended.
As the German-language
Mallorca newspaper
reports, pubs and restaurants are no longer allowed to serve their guests indoors.
Coronavirus pandemic: Stricter corona rules on Mallorca than on Ibiza and Menorca
On the neighboring islands of
Menorca
and
Ibiza
, the
corona measures are
much milder because the infection rate is significantly lower.
