The head of the International Relations Committee of the Russian Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev assured that Russia will not allow it to be dragged into an unbridled arms race in the cosmic space.
Kosachev said in televised statements today that the United States, whose military spending exceeds Russian spending several times, is trying to drag Russia into a costly race in the militarization of space, stressing that his country will not allow it to be dragged into races of this kind, whether in space or on the ground.
Kosachev explained that Moscow is aware of the economic risks resulting from these races, as well as the military risks and political consequences, stressing that Moscow's position is that it is necessary to take proactive steps to prevent the unbridled militarization of space.
Earlier today, the Russian space agency Roscosmos warned of the possibility that the United States and its allies would implement military programs on the moon within the framework of the "Artemida" program, noting that it did not rule out this matter.
