The world's leading economic power continues to record record after record, regularly exceeding 200,000 daily cases and 2,500 or even 3,000 deaths per day.

With those 300,000 deaths, the country lost the equivalent of the population of the city of Cincinnati, in the state of Ohio.

More than 16 million people have contracted the virus on American soil since the onset of the pandemic.

But the real toll is underestimated due to the lack of testing at the start of the pandemic.

Unlike the first wave of spring - never really fell back - then the rebound recorded this summer, the current outbreak this time concerns the country as a whole.

More than 109,000 people are currently hospitalized with Covid-19 in the United States, unheard of, according to data from the Covid Tracking Project.

Americans cling to hope for a vaccine.

The first doses of that of Pfizer / BioNTech arrived Monday morning in vaccination centers across the country, and a New York nurse became the first American to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

The Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) have recommended that residents of retirement homes (3 million people) and professionals in the health sector (21 million) be given priority.
