Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov renewed his country's position calling for launching a dialogue on collective security in the Gulf region, reminding that the Russian proposal in this regard is still valid.
Lavrov said in a joint press conference after his talks with his Emirati counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan today in Moscow, “We believe that under the current circumstances, including what is going on about the joint comprehensive action plan on the Iranian nuclear program and the attempts to replace it with something else despite the Security Council resolution. On the international level, the effectiveness of efforts on this path is gaining increasing effectiveness and the importance of the Russian proposal is evident, ”noting that Russia has long believed that it is time to launch the concept of collective security in the Gulf.
Russia had earlier suggested launching a dialogue on collective security with the aim of establishing stability in the Gulf region in cooperation between its countries.
On the other hand, Lavrov stressed the necessity of resolving the Palestinian issue based on the relevant United Nations resolutions in a manner that guarantees the establishment of a Palestinian state.
