Online scams have exploded since containment

STORY - Fake parking spaces, nursing homes… Hundreds of fake investment websites have caused around 4 billion euros in global damage to cheated individuals.


They are also the victims of the health crisis and confinement.

Locked in their homes between March and May last and killing time by surfing websites, hundreds of people have fallen into the trap of false investment scams.

Scams which, already in normal times, pay big for their authors but which, in this particular period, were extremely juicy.

Sensing the right opportunity, the crooks have indeed surpassed themselves by offering investments in parking spaces and, recently, in nursing homes.

Conclusion: complaints are raining down, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is increasing the number of warnings, groups whose identities have been usurped - such as Vinci, Korian or Bouygues - scroll through their site for warning messages and file a complaint.
