In the midst of the dispute over the US election results, US Attorney General William Barr submitted his resignation to incumbent President Donald Trump.
In a letter from Trump published on Twitter on Monday evening (local time), Barr said that he would leave office on December 23.
Barr had recently openly contradicted Trump in his election fraud allegations.
Since then, there had been speculation about how long Barr would be able to hold office.
