YouTube, Gmail and other Google services were down for an hour

Google Cloud reported through the social network Twitter that the failure was due to problems with the internal storage quota.


Google users around the world were affected Monday morning by a service interruption that affected access to Gmail accounts and the playback of videos on YouTube.

The failure that lasted about an hour also affected access to

Google Drive, Google Docs, Adwords, Google Home, Nest,

and Chromecast services.

Users from North America, Europe, India, South Africa, Central America, South America, and Australia reported problems accessing services.

Google Cloud, via Twitter, reported that the failure was due to

internal storage quota issues.

"Google experienced an authentication system outage for approximately 45 minutes due to an internal storage quota issue," they explained.

The outage began at 6:47 a.m. (ET) and was resolved at 7:32 a.m., according to the social network.

YouTube also addressed the flaw through its Twitter account

: "We are aware that many of you are having trouble accessing YouTube at the moment; our team knows about it and is investigating it. We will update you here as soon as we have it. more news".

An hour later, they reported on Twitter that the flaw had been resolved.

"We are back up and running!"

Google's service outage comes after YouTube experienced problems playing videos on November 11.

That failure was for approximately two hours in various parts of the world.

The failure may have affected thousands of students on the East Coast of the United States who rely on platforms such as Google Docs, among others, to study remotely online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
