According to sources quoted by Reuters, Baidu is in preliminary discussions with Geely Automobile (0175), Guangzhou Automobile (2238) and FAW's Hongqi on the establishment of electric vehicle joint ventures, but has not reached any agreement so far.
The report pointed out that in recent years, Baidu is developing technologies such as autonomous driving, and it also operates autonomous taxi services in Beijing and Changsha.
Baidu reportedly expects to hold a controlling stake in the joint venture company and cooperate with automakers through authorized manufacturing.
