A recent British study found the identification of key genes associated with severe cases of Covid 19, which gives the possibility of a link between Corona deaths and the genetic factor.
According to the specialized British magazine, "Nature", researchers from the University of Edinburgh examined the genetic mechanisms associated with severe cases of Covid 19 and studied the DNA of 2,700 patients with Coronavirus in 208 intensive care units across Britain and found 5 genes involved in two molecular processes, namely antiviral immunity. And pneumonia, which formed the basis for many severe cases.
The academic advisor in critical care medicine at the University of Edinburgh, who participated in the study, "Kenneth Bailey", explained that the five genes are called "IFNAR2", "TYK2", "OAS1" and "DBP9". And "CCR2" partly explains why some people have severe cases of Covid 19, while others are not affected.
Bailey stressed the importance of the findings of the study as it sheds light on the drugs that should be at the top of the list of clinical tests.
The researchers indicated the possibility that these results could help speed up the search for potential drugs for Corona by conducting clinical trials of drugs that target specific anti-viral and inflammatory pathways.
