The cultural and intellectual symposium held by the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh under the title “Education, Culture and Challenge” focused on the necessary means in the process of educational upbringing and the strengthening of cultural identity to face the current challenges facing our societies.

The director of Damascus Culture, Wasim Moubayed pointed out the importance of developing an educational culture that upholds the generation, strengthens its structure and elevates our identity to the level of the challenges we face.

A number of media professionals and intellectuals gave various interventions about what researchers and speakers have attained, and about the reality of the educational process and the need to develop it.

In turn, Director of Damascus Education, Suleiman Yunus, explained that the West sought, at various stages, to negatively influence the identity of Arab societies, target their national cultures, and spread globalization, pointing to the importance of the role of education in the immunity of the national personality through curriculum development, development and care, in addition to the role of the media and social institutions in enhancing the family's presence in the life of The individual.

For her part, researcher Lubna Bishara spoke in her axis about the importance of fortification and cultural construction to confront crises and negative phenomena such as extremism, rigidity, repression and fascination with the West, using modern methods that take into account the times, enhance the individual's connection with his society, elevate the sense of citizenship, and help society to stand firm in the face of intellectual storms.

While the researcher, Dr. Asmahan Jaafar, said that in order to fortify the culture and the social personality capable of confrontation, the educational system must be promoted and our intellectual means developed in the battle of building mankind, reformulating visions and goals, acquiring knowledge, skills and values ​​that contribute to the better presence and fortification of the homeland and the future of its children.

The poet and journalist Muhammad Khaled Al-Khidr, who moderated the symposium, pointed to the need to upgrade home and school education to create an educated generation capable of confronting the cultural and intellectual invasion coming from abroad.
