The objective of this curfew was clearly stated by Jean Castex during a press conference on December 10: "to

allow everyone to take advantage of the end of year celebrations

" but do everything "

to reduce the risk to have to live a third confinement in the coming months

".

It starts at 8 p.m. and ends at 6 a.m.

The French can therefore travel freely and without limit of kilometers outside these hours.

To circulate during the curfew, a new certificate has been put online by the government.

In order to overcome these health restrictions, traders have chosen to adapt their hours and open earlier, but also to favor home delivery.

Only Christmas Eve is an exception to the rule: it will be allowed to move around freely although the government calls for caution.

For the holidays, plane, bus and train tickets have derogatory value, stated the Minister for Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebarri, on December 11.

To travel after 8 p.m., you will still need a certificate.

However, for car journeys, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, recommends driving outside of curfew hours.

In the Ephad, residents will be able to reunite with their families for the Christmas holidays.

Applicable from December 15 to January 3, "

this protocol provides in particular for a relaxation of the instructions relating to family outings in order to allow residents to enjoy the end-of-year celebrations serenely

," said a press release from the delegated ministry to the Minister of Solidarity and Health, in charge of Autonomy.

On the activity side, it is possible to go to mass, to shops, to practice physical and extra-curricular activities outdoors.

The world of culture, restaurants and the nightlife will keep the doors closed.

Telework is encouraged but is not compulsory: the government recommends two to three days of telework per week.
