Necessity makes you inventive: the Garmisch-Partenkirchen store supports local retailers and helps them to set up an online presence including a delivery service.

This can be vital in the shutdown.

Also on board: a startup from Oberau.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

- It is only little consolation for stationary retail that many consumers took the last shopping opportunity before the tough Corona shutdown and let the tills ring again.

Because from Wednesday, December 16, the majority of the shops will have to close in the middle of the important Christmas business until January 10 - a painful cut that will cost a lot of sales and, in the worst case, cause businesses to go into trouble.

Industry suffers high losses

“It's a catastrophe,” says Bernd Ohlmann, press spokesman for the Bavarian Trade Association, who sees himself as the mouthpiece of the industry.

According to his information, around 40,000 shops throughout the Free State are being sent to the state-prescribed compulsory break in order to increase protection against infection.

This would result in losses of 150 million euros - every day.

The result: thousands of jobs are on the brink.

Creativity is needed to get through this difficult time.

In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, efforts are now being made to keep sales at least on the back burner.

The idea: an Internet presentation with a reference to a delivery service, if available.

The market town offers regional dealers such a platform for free and works with Tino Ruderisch from Oberau.

The startup entrepreneur has been developing the dieLiefern.de homepage since the beginning of the Corona crisis - and has big plans.

The motto: “Buy locally instead of globally!” For Mayor Elisabeth Koch (CSU) it is clear: “It has to be quick now.

It was foreseeable that a second lockdown would come.

So I am pleased that we can offer our retailers this fast and unbureaucratic online presence. ”Her appeal:“ We have to stick together and support retailers, our restaurateurs, but also our citizens. ”

Only 25 addresses registered

The dieLiefern.de project is still in its infancy.

There are currently only 25 registered addresses.

“I would like to expand that,” reports Ruderisch.

He could imagine one day running a large online shop with ordering options and his own home delivery service.

Ruderisch advises seeing the Internet as an opportunity.

Because: "There is no getting around digitization."

And what do the Garmisch-Partenkirchen dealers say about the municipality's offer?

"That is better than nothing," says Franz Kässer, chairman of the advertising association "Experience Partenkirchen".

“I'm glad that this platform exists,” adds the owner of a chocolaterie.

The ideal solution, however, would be if the town hall's economic development agency created a local sales platform with delivery service.

He himself could currently not do this, reports Kässer.

Because the online business has grown noticeably for him - and the dispatch preparation ties up his strength.

You are one step further in Murnau.

This is where the business development association gathers initial experience with the concept of bringing the desired goods home to customers.

The advocacy group has been offering such a service free of charge since last week.

You can order the goods by phone or online.

These are then delivered from a collection point - by bike or car.

Even the surrounding villages are part of the catchment area of the campaign, which initially runs until Christmas and is supported by the community.

And how is the all-round carefree package accepted?

Apparently word got around.

Because, according to co-initiator Juliane Pusch, eight parcels were delivered on Monday - a start.

The best thing is: if you place an order before 12 noon, you will receive the desired product on the same day.

“We are faster than the Internet,” Pusch reports proudly.
