Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, Rabbi Gershon Edelstein and Rabbi Shalom Cohen, leaders of the Lithuanian and Sephardic currents in the ultra-Orthodox sector, this evening (Tuesday) ordered anyone who can be vaccinated to do so.

The rabbis clarified that the experiment with the vaccine was performed properly and according to all the parameters accepted in the world of medicine, and that it was proven that there is no risk in receiving the vaccine.

However, the rabbis stressed that those suffering from allergies of all kinds should consult their family doctor about how to get the vaccine under medical supervision.

It was also clarified that since the experiment was conducted among ages 16 and up, young people up to this age are asked to wait for an experiment by young people their age.

Rabbis Kanievsky, Edelstein and Shalom Cohen are considered the senior ultra-Orthodox leadership of the Lithuanian and Sephardic currents in the ultra-Orthodox sector.

The letter on their behalf is expected to be published in the coming days in the ultra-Orthodox press, in the ultra-Orthodox concentrations and in other media, in order to increase public awareness of vaccines.

However, the letter makes no reference on behalf of the leadership of the Hassidic sect many of whom deliberately violated the corona guidelines in the first and second wave.

The announcement on behalf of the senior rabbis was issued by the medical advisor, Rabbi Elimelech Firer.

It was reported yesterday that senior Ministry of Health officials tried to harness the ultra-Orthodox rabbis for the corona vaccination campaign, but were rejected.

Senior officials in the ministry, including CEO Prof. Hezi Levy and corona commissioner Prof. Nachman Ash, attended a special meeting of the most prestigious and prestigious rabbinical court in Bnei Brak to explain to rabbis at the helm the importance of getting vaccinated against corona in the vaccination campaign expected next week.

In the documentation that reached Walla!

NEWS, Rabbi Yehuda Silman, one of the senior dayanim and halakhic judges in Bnei Brak, explained that one should wait with a public reading.

"I understand that we have to take a certain risk because the corona is very dangerous, but at the moment it comes out with official approval for us it is too early because we hear such a thing and hear such a thing," he said.

However, Rabbi Silman welcomed the vaccination campaign.

"If someone asks me privately, I might tell him to do it."

Rabbi Silman, the head of the tribunal, told senior Ministry of Health officials that "simple logic says that the research and approval of the competent authorities in the United States has weight."

But the main problem, he said, "is that you know better that a four-month study does not rule out the possibility that there may be long-term problems."

Rabbi Silman stressed: "The move to get vaccinated is the right move, but at the moment it comes out with official approval for us it is too early. We would wait a few weeks."
